I recently found a great diagram which instructs you
on how to make an origami star. Origami stars are small
coin-sized creations which are fun, easy and addictive to
make.
What else can you do with origami stars?
Many people make lots of stars and fill jars up with them. You
can also write special thoughts or wishes inside these stars. You
can even write a person's name inside them.
What You Need
You should buy special origami star paper, which is 11 inches by
1/2 an inch long. If you don't have access to buying these,
simply cut paper to this size. Make sure the paper is not too
thin and not too thick - it may rip easily or won't fold
properly. You can try practicing with junk mail flyers or ads.
Some Helpful Tips
- Use coloured origami paper strips (11×0.5 inches long)
- You can make larger stars by using larger paper; just make sure the proportions are the same (e.g. 22×1 inch)
- The paper you use shouldn't be too light or too heavy, or else you'll have trouble folding it
- Don't fold too tightly, or else the star will be too flat and won't have the 3-D "puffy" look
- Practice! You may not get it at first, but you will soon!
